Valve-Specific Powder Coating About

Introduction

1. Product Overview

Valves are characterized by thick and uneven wall thickness, irregular shapes, rough surfaces, high thermal inertia with slow heat-up rates, and frequent collisions during handling and transportation. When conventional powder coatings are applied to valves, these characteristics often lead to various coating issues.

To address these challenges, our company has carefully selected specialized raw materials and conducted extensive testing to develop a dedicated Valve-Specific Powder Coating. In addition to providing the excellent decorative finish expected from conventional powder coatings, this product offers a range of enhanced performance characteristics specifically designed for valve applications.

2. Product Features

(1) Excellent adhesion, impact resistance, and scratch resistance. The coating remains intact without damage during normal handling and transportation of valves.

(2) Low-temperature curing capability. Recommended curing conditions are 160C for 1520 minutes or 180C for 10 minutes. Compared with conventional powder coatings requiring 180C for 1520 minutes, this coating significantly improves production efficiency while reducing energy consumption.

(3) The high-gloss formulation provides excellent gloss, outstanding leveling, superior hiding power, and excellent edge coverage without sagging. A coating thickness of approximately 100 m is sufficient to achieve excellent performance.

(4) Effectively eliminates bubble formation commonly encountered on cast iron valves.

(5) By optimizing the powder particle size distribution and incorporating advanced formulation materials, the coating significantly reduces the Faraday cage effect, resulting in improved powder penetration and higher transfer efficiency, even in recessed areas.

(6) Various gloss levels and textured finishes can be customized according to customer requirements.

4. Application Areas

Suitable for a wide variety of industrial valves, including gate valves, globe valves, plug valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and other types of valves.

Superior Valve Protection and Appearance

Specifically tailored for valve applications, this powder coating delivers a resilient, glossy blue finish that looks pristine and performs reliably in tough environments. The high-gloss appearance, smooth texture, and excellent color retention ensure long-lasting visual appeal, while advanced corrosion and impact resistance features protect valves in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Industrial-Grade Durability and Compliance

Tested and compliant with ASTM D3359, ASTM D2794, ASTM B117, and ISO 12944 standards, our powder coating excels in real-world industrial conditions. The high impact resistance, outstanding flexibility (mandrel bend test), and strong adhesive qualities guarantee dependable performance, meeting or exceeding industry requirements for protective valve coatings.

Efficient Application and Packaging Solutions

Designed for ease of application using electrostatic spray methods, the powder's fine and uniform particles produce a flawless, even coating on complex valve geometries. Available in 20 kg and 25 kg sealed HDPE bags or drums, it ensures convenient storage, smooth handling, and maintains material freshness for optimal results.

FAQ's of Valve-Specific Powder Coating:

Q: How is this valve-specific powder coating applied to valve surfaces?

A: The powder coating is applied using electrostatic spray technology, employing either the Corona or Tribo method. The coated valves are then cured at 180C to 200C, producing a durable, high-gloss, and uniform finish.

Q: What are the recommended film thickness and benefits for this coating?

A: A film thickness between 60 and 120 microns is advised. This range ensures optimal adhesion, impact resistance, flexibility, and corrosion protection, enhancing the coating's longevity and performance on valve surfaces.

Q: When should this powder coating be used for valves?

A: This powder coating is ideal for both new and refurbished valves where superior protection from weathering, chemicals, and corrosion is required. It is suitable for industrial applications indoors or outdoors.

Q: Where is this powder coating commonly applied?

A: The product is primarily used on both exterior and interior surfaces of industrial valves. Its outstanding durability makes it suitable for sectors such as water treatment, oil and gas, chemical processing, and general manufacturing.

Q: What is the process for powder coating and curing valves?

A: Valve parts are cleaned, pre-treated, and then coated with the fine polyester powder using an electrostatic spray. After application, they are cured in an oven within the 180C to 200C range to achieve a smooth and resilient finish.

Q: What performance standards does this coating meet or exceed?

A: It complies with ASTM D3359 (adhesion), ASTM D2794 (impact), ASTM B117 (salt spray corrosion resistance), ASTM D522 (flexibility), ASTM D3363 (hardness), and ISO 12944, ensuring industrial-grade protection and reliability.

Q: What advantages does this powder coating offer over conventional paint for valves?

A: Compared to liquid paints, this powder coating delivers a harder, smoother, and more durable finish with superior resistance to corrosion, impact, and weathering. It is environmentally friendlier, producing no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
